{"id":40590,"date":"2015-01-05T06:04:38","date_gmt":"2015-01-04T22:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flexhk.com\/2015\/01\/05\/get-motivated-for-2015\/"},"modified":"2024-09-02T15:23:25","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T07:23:25","slug":"get-motivated-for-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/like2say.com\/flexhk\/get-motivated-for-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"GET MOTIVATED FOR 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Setting New Year&#8217;s resolutions is an annual tradition where we fix life goals and self-improvement promises for the coming year.\u00a0 It is believed that the Babylonians were the first to start this practice around 4,000 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Although most of us start off with the best intentions, they invariably fall by the wayside within a short period of time.\u00a0\u00a0 So how do we set goals that we can stick to and bring about the change in our lives that we want and need? \u00a0In short, <strong>how can we get motivated for 2015?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here, Charlotte Douglas, yoga instructor at Flex gives advice on how to increase your chances of sticking to fitness goals in the New Year and what her key motivators are: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t bite off more than you can chew<\/strong> \u2013 set realistic goals based on the time you have \u2013 if you are only free one day a week, work with that.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t set the bar too high<\/strong> \u2013 if you haven\u2019t trained for years, it\u2019s probably best not to sign up for 5 classes each week initially.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be realistic about outcomes<\/strong> \u2013 Rome wasn\u2019t built in a day, and regaining fitness will take a little time<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t be hard on yourself<\/strong> \u2013 try not to berate yourself if you slip off the wagon for a day or so.\u00a0 There is no need to religiously count calories, or set a schedule that is very difficult to maintain.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start small<\/strong> \u2013 start by being active for only 15 minutes each day, it will immediately make a significant difference to your health and wellbeing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Find something you love<\/strong> \u2013 if you enjoy what you are doing and feel a difference, and you will be more likely to stick at it.\u00a0 If we force ourselves to do something that brings no joy then we are much more likely to fall off the path pretty quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I fortunately discovered yoga in my early 20\u2019s, however it wasn\u2019t until I became pregnant with my first child that I really started to fall in love with the practice. Says Charlotte.\u00a0 But even then, it took me time to find the right teacher, find the time, and most of all, to stop making excuses and to just step onto the mat!<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 10 years I have fallen in &amp; out of love with yoga many times. \u00a0There have been periods where I have not stepped near a mat for weeks, even months. However, I have always returned and when I have, it has been a smooth and easy transition.\u00a0 This is part of what makes yoga so unique and appealing over many other disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga has the ability to transform us \u2013 it\u2019s a connection of the mind, body and soul.<\/p>\n<p>It is so much more than a series of poses, or executing the perfect handstand.\u00a0 For me yoga is a way of life, about finding joy &amp; happiness within.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flexhk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/le-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12465\" title=\"le\" src=\"https:\/\/flexhk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/le-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My resolutions for 2015 are to deepen my practice, develop my meditation practice and of course, plant the seed of Yoga into a few more souls.<\/p>\n<p>What will 2015 be for you?\u00a0 Listen to that inner voice and ask yourself what you really want to do.
