{"id":40638,"date":"2015-04-20T04:56:44","date_gmt":"2015-04-19T20:56:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flexhk.com\/2015\/04\/20\/why-pilates-6\/"},"modified":"2024-09-02T15:23:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T07:23:24","slug":"why-pilates-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/like2say.com\/flexhk\/why-pilates-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Walking Wasn&#8217;t Enough To Keep Me Strong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13518\" title=\"blog\" src=\"https:\/\/flexhk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/blog-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"367\" height=\"385\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>As part of our ongoing series, we find out why real people have taken to the popular practice of Pilates, how it has helped\u00a0re-shape their bodies, and improve strength and sports performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here, Triska Childs, originally from Melbourne, Australia, tells us how she tried Pilates after realizing that walking her dogs alone would not keep her in shape and maintain her youthfulness. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHY PILATES?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prior to arriving in Hong Kong eight years ago, I never exercised regularly.<\/p>\n<p>I know none of the girls I do Pilates with now would believe it, but I was hideously shy as a child, which somehow prevented me from participating in any sporting activity, even though I have always been quite physically strong.<\/p>\n<p>Within a couple of years of arriving, I thought if I didn&#8217;t do something now I would crumple up into a stiff old heap.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BODY AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After almost five years of doing Pilates, three times each week, I am far more flexible, feel stronger than ever, and my posture has improved.<\/p>\n<p>I also feel that my body is far more toned than it was five years ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BEST BENEFIT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I think the best benefit is the overall feeling of wellbeing, physically and mentally. \u00a0From a mental perspective, my confidence in my abilities and concentration has definitely increased.<\/p>\n<p>Physically, I am using my core strength and flexibility to best advantage.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing to get out there and hike over the Dragon\u2019s Back with my gorgeous dogs \u2013 Hettie and Harley \u2013 I feel better than I did when I started 5 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>An added bonus is being able to workout in the beautiful atmosphere of Flex Studio, with instructors who take such a personal interest in our progress and physical wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, all the great gals I&#8217;ve met!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pilates at Flex!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Flex has a full range of daily Pilates classes at both Island South and Central, including Private tuition, Trios, Allegro, Mat, TRX Pilates Flow, Flying Pilates, Pre\/Post Natal and more!<\/p>\n<p>Not sure where to start?
